Privacy Policy

Last updated: 6 October 2026

Dirtlab (PTY) Ltd is responsible for the personal information described in this policy. It applies when you use dirtlab.co.za, create an account, place an order or contact us. We handle personal information under South Africa’s Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).

1. Who we are

Responsible party: Dirtlab (PTY) Ltd
Privacy contact: info@dirtlab.co.za

2. What we collect

Depending on how you use the site, we collect your name, contact details, billing and delivery addresses, order history, account details, messages you send us, and technical data such as IP address, device, browser and site activity. A payment provider may process your payment details. We receive the information needed to confirm and manage payment, but you shouldn’t send us full card details by email.

3. Why we use it

We use information to run the store, process and deliver orders, take payment, provide support, handle returns, protect the site against fraud, keep required business records, and improve our services. We may use analytics to understand how the site is used. We may send marketing where the law permits it and will provide a way to opt out of electronic marketing. You can also ask us to stop by emailing us.

Some details are needed to fulfil an order or meet a legal duty. If you don’t provide them, we may be unable to process your order. Optional information, such as a marketing preference, is your choice.

4. Who receives information

We share only what is needed with service providers that help operate the store, such as hosting, payment, delivery, customer support, analytics and marketing providers. We may also disclose information when the law requires it or to protect legal rights. We don’t sell customer contact lists. Service providers may process information outside South Africa; where they do, we take steps required by POPIA for cross border transfers.

5. Cookies and similar tools

Cookies help the cart, checkout and account work. Analytics and advertising tools may also use cookies or similar technology. See our Cookie Policy for the categories and your choices. Optional tools should be controlled through the site’s cookie settings where available.

6. How long we keep information

We keep information only as long as needed for the purposes above, including legal, tax and accounting duties, disputes and warranty claims. When it is no longer needed, we delete, de-identify or securely dispose of it as required by law. An account deletion request may not immediately remove records we must legally retain.

7. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards to protect personal information. No website is completely risk free. If a security compromise triggers a legal notification duty, we’ll notify affected people and the Information Regulator as required.

8. Your rights

You may ask whether we hold your personal information, request access or correction, object to certain processing, request deletion where the law allows it, or withdraw consent where consent is the basis for processing. Email info@dirtlab.co.za and we’ll guide you through the request. We may need to verify your identity first.

You may also complain to South Africa’s Information Regulator. Its current contact details and complaint process are published at inforegulator.org.za.

9. Updates

We may update this policy as our practices change. The date at the top shows the latest version. Material changes will be brought to your attention where required.
